Rivesville, West Virginia

The large red building is the Rivesville power station. The Momongahela River (right) flows North.

Rivesville is just North of Fairmont. Rivesville was laid out in 1837 in honor of William Cabel Rives. A terrible flood on April 5th, 1852 destroyed many homes along the Monongahela River. They also had major flooding in 1888 and 1962.
